Veolia Environnement’s research and development activities are conducted by the Research, Development and Technology Department, which has considerable resources at its disposal.
Research and Development is more than just a set of goals. It requires financial and human resources, deployed by Veolia Environnement so that it can act effectively in pursuit of concrete goals.
With a steadily growing budget, renowned researchers and experts, a solid organization and elite partners, Veolia Environnement’s R&D is a proven, competitive resource, dedicated to economic, environmental and public health progress.

A budget of 160 million euros for 2008.
850 experts (425 researchers and 425 field developers).
3 main research centers, focusing on:
- Water
- Transportation
- Waste Management and Energy
An international network of R&D correspondents, in Germany, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.
200 prestigious partnerships worldwide within the scientific community.
A hundred industrial-scale prototypes.
Specialized teams:
- Environment Department: performs environmental assessments and oversees the Environmental Management System.
- Health Department: assesses the health risks and benefits of Veolia’s activities.
- A network of experts responsible for technology intelligence.
- A quality assurance laboratory: the CAE, or Environmental Analysis Center, manages Veolia’s analytical research and coordinates a network of laboratories.
