The exhibition has been officially inaugurated by Mrs. André, as President of the French Senate, Jean Audouze, as President of the French national Commission for the UNESCO, and Henri Proglio, CEO of Veolia Environnement.

They presented prizes to the winning classes from France, Morocco, Portugal, Germany, Slovenia, Hungary, the Czech republic and Slovakia who attended the event on May 31st at 11.15 am.

Following the inaugural ceremony, children were invited to have a lunch at the Senate, in the President's room, as well as to a guided tour of the hemicycle and the Conferences room.

Afterwards, the foreign delegations went to the top of the Eiffel Tower where they could admire the view of Paris. The evening ended up with a boat ride to Notre-Dame, for a dinner followed by a magician's performance.

Alongside the streamers exhibition in the Luxembourg Garden, workshops for children from 8 to 12 were conducted by professionals, to play and work on the theme "the environment is my nature... and my health".

'Veolia Environnement's mission goes beyond our mere ability to meet our environmental and social responsibilities, " said Henri Proglio, CEO. "We must also make future generations aware of sustainable development, and educate and mobilize them to act in a sustainable way, because today's children will be to-morrow environmental citizens.'

Mobilizing, heightening public awareness and educating

This event aimed to encourage people of all ages to think about our planet's environmental stakes against demographic and urban development trends, and to express their contribution and commitment following a world's citizenship approach.
