Consequences of the increase in the world population

In 30 years, they will be 9 billion human beings on Earth

In 2008, half of the population will live in towns, more than three billion people.

Facing new challenges

Cities and their suburbs will expand and take up more and more space which is currently reserved for agriculture or forests. Old districts will have to be adapted to take modern traffic, and we will have to meet increased demand for energy and drinking water, to be able to deal with enormous volumes of wastewater and waste, and to provide transportation solutions.
