Global warming

According to scientists, the planet is warming up because man, with his millions of factories and cars, is releasing more and more "greenhouse gases" - carbon monoxide, methane, nitrous oxide and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) into the atmosphere.

Reducing greenhouse gases emissions

All the countries which are major consumers of fossil fuels (coal, gas, oil) are thus also major producers of greenhouse gases. Some of them have committed to reduce their CO2 emissions by signing the Kyoto Protocol.

Global warming has serious consequences for the climate: the ice-caps melt; there are storms and hurricanes, more heat waves, and a rise in sea levels.

It is time for action, but we must all act together!
