The action of Veolia Environnement
Protecting water resources
We treat wastewater and leachates generated by landfills, and control the quality of effluent before discharge into the natural environment. We minimize leakage of water networks to avoid wastage.
Preserving energy resources
We propose energy-efficient installations at our clients' facilities. We encourage the use of alternative energy such as biomass energy to run water treatments plants and networks. We develop solutions using renewable energy sources, including waste, biomass, geothermal, solar thermal and photo-voltaic energy.
Fight against climate change and reduce emissions
We develop new technologies to reduce the impact on the atmosphere of combustion facilities such as waste incinerators or power generators, and CO2 emissions. Methane generated from landfills can be collected and used as energy.
Conserving soils
We conduct soil remediation on polluted sites. Sludge and compost (waste by-products) are re-used for agricultural purposes.
Saving raw materials
We recycle and recover materials from industrial and domestic waste, such as paper, glass, metals and so on. We encourage communities to sort out their rubbish where possible.
Contributing to the health and the quality of community life
We treat and distribute drinking water to high quality standards. We work towards preventing public health risks, such as diseases. Our waste collection ensures a clean and healthy urban environment.
We contribute to environmental and health education of local communities.
We promote mass transit services and the use of clean fuels
Veolia Environnement has stated its commitment to future generations in its Sustainable Development Charter.
