Several projects have helped to improve the quality of life in our town of Rabat:

The first thing that comes to our minds is the big garbage cans on wheels and with covers which have been placed in the different streets in the town. Thanks to these garbage cans, inhabitants can get rid of their household garbage more easily.

For another thing, in order to improve the state of the air and the earth, our town council decided to develop parks, replanting some forests that were in rather a bad way...

However, all these projects are nowhere near enough to ensure sustainable development in our region due to the lack of citizen awareness and to illiteracy. If we want our environment to be healthier, we need to teach the people about citizenship, and make sure all schools have an environment club.

It is true that our country has made a lot of progress as far as drinking water is concerned, but for our region to develop further, it would be necessary to install a waste water processing plant linked up to all the sewers in the region. This would promote better water quality.

What would also be needed is the installation of garbage cans specifically for paper, others for metal, plastic and glass. It would be good to recycle all these elements... Recycling plays a very important role in nature because without this technique trees would disappear considering paper is made from wood.

In order to maintain our avenues, our streets and our alleys, we need trashcans - we could attach them to tree trunks, electricity poles. It is absolutely necessary that these trashcans have lids to avoid spreading bad smells, to avoid swarms of mosquitoes.

Finally we think that traveling by bicycle or on the streetcar would help towards improving the quality of the air. This would also serve to reduce sound pollution.
